As the name suggests, it's a self-proclaimed meat shack filled with more varieties of barbecued animal than you can shake a rib tip at. I'd heard mixed reviews so naturally had to give it a try for myself. With a menu similar to Red's True Barbecue, there was one standout performer that had to hit my plate: The Dirty Boy.
If your glasses have steamed up, that's a 6oz chuck patty, bacon, brisket and pulled pork. Deconstruction is recommended. Add, to that a side of buffalo wings and you've got a calorific bucket of recommended eating.
Whilst the Dirty Boy was an easy pick for a first-timer, there's plenty of other tempting combinations to get stuck into. As I battled on through the eating equivalent of the 'Runner's Wall', the rest of the party tucked into dogs and chest-high chicken stacks. Creativity points for the Three Pigs hot dog which serves up pork sausage, bacon, pulled pork, caramelised onions and melted cheese on a brioche roll (the best of breads).
They're a good bunch down at Cockadoodlemoo as well. Service was slow for us due to the arrival of an unexpectedly large party but the manager was ready with free milkshakes before we could even complain. Like every good shake, they were as thick as ice cream and laced with Oreos.
If you think you can stay awake at the wheel after a healthy stuffing, head down and maybe even try out their Man Vs. Moo hot wing challenge. Six wings in six minutes. Sound easy? Only four people have managed it, and with seconds to spare.
Happy meating!
