The Windmill

After spending a week away in Wales with my parents, my grandparents decided to take the whole family out for food to help them celebrate their wedding anniversary. The place of choice was the lovely Windmill Inn, near Poynton, which takes a little bit of finding but is definitely worth the search.

Despite being spoilt for choice by the menu, I opted for the tried and tested chicken strippers with garlic mayo and rocket, followed up by ribeye steak with onion rings, mushroom and garlic & chilli butter - I'm a man of simple tastes. The rest of the family seemed pretty sold on the squid salad and took up the offer of a Sunday roast.

Note: The pictures don't do the portion sizes justice!

One of the main reasons we like The Windmill is its beer garden. I have two nieces who can be a bit of a handful at the dinner table (colouring books, teddies, iPads etc. will only distract for so long) so having plenty of space for them is a must when we're out as a family.

Luckily, the sun was out for Georgie to run around in the maze and Felicity made a new friend in Toby, the horse, who was on standby for last summer's Olympics. And, of course, there was the happy couple, celebrating their 56th year together.

  1. I love The Windmill. I feel like I need to go again soon. It was the place that we went on my last day of maternity leave. xx
