Rib Me!

Tuesday 27th August. Summer might not have sung its final song, but the fat lady's gargling side of stage. If you're back at work today, banging your head at the prospect of Autumn creeping ever-closer, I have five words for you: 'All you can eat ribs.' That's right, one sentence, two great components.

There are plenty of great eateries in Manchester, but on a Tuesday, my choice would be Southern Eleven, in Spinningfields. Just round the corner from the historic John Rylands Library (pop in if you've never been - it's free), they offer all kinds of BBQ treats, including the all you can eat deal. For £15, they set you up with all you can eat ribs and chicken thighs, plus sides of beans and 'slaw, and an ice cold bottle of Peroni.

Although it's not a buffet style AYCE, the service is excellent and you'll have your portion of choice within two minutes of asking. I went last Tuesday for a friend's birthday and polished off five rounds. With plenty of great bars near by, it's certainly one way to give the bank holiday calendar the middle finger.
